This weekend we got to travel to Cole's roots to tie the knot on his adoption. We flew into Sacramento, CA and drove south to Visalia.
Cole woke up early to get ready for the big day. No wait-- he always wakes up early.
At the courthouse, we went into the judge's office. After being sworn in, we pledged to treat Cole with the same rights and privileges of a natural son. We signed the adoption order, and the judge declared that Cole was our son.
The process only took half an hour, but Cole was final in more ways than one.
Another highlight was getting to see Cole's birthmother. Lauren was grateful for the opportunity to see him, and it was a pleasant visit with her, her family and friends. We think Cole is her spitting image.
Cole was a great traveller, except for the mystifying practice of squirming for the entire two hour flight and then falling asleep during landing.
But that was OK, because it was a blast spending some time with just Cole.

Cole looks so cute in that plaid shirt. I especially love the picture of Rich kissing him. He looks so grateful as we all are ---a most special gift.
