Smell of Fall

Where I grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico,  September air was permeated by the pungent, burning smell of Hatch green chile roasting across the city. 

Thanks to this farmer's market, I can now relive the glory from afar. And so can you, if you are so inclined (and if you go very soon).

It does a mama's heart good to see what a valuable thing was passed on. From the picture they look just like mine and my mom's. I remember the New Years Eve that I cooked a hugh batch for your nice friends.
